Dear Black Prophets, Co. is a Black-woman-led healing collective transforming the way Black communities heal, connect, and thrive. Guided by African-centered psychology, spirituality, and the principle of Ujima, we are building sacred spaces for collective restoration.
- Land Acknowledgement -
Dear Black Prophets, Co. acknowledges that our work takes place on the ancestral lands of Indigenous peoples who have stewarded these territories since time immemorial.
In Jersey City, New Jersey, we honor the Lenape people — the original stewards of Lenapehoking, whose ancestral lands encompass much of present-day New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania. We recognize the Lenape’s ongoing presence, and the forced displacement and erasure they endured through colonization.
In Washington, D.C., we honor the Piscataway and Nacotchtank (Anacostan) peoples — whose rich cultures, governance, and relationships with the land existed long before the U.S. capital was established. These communities continue to survive and resist, despite centuries of dispossession and cultural genocide.
As a Black-woman-led organization rooted in the principles of African-centered psychology, healing justice, and community care, we affirm the interconnected struggles of Black and Indigenous peoples. We commit to working in right relationship with the land, its original stewards, and their descendants — honoring ancestral memory, resisting erasure, and building pathways toward collective healing and liberation.
We honor the land. We honor the people. We honor the ancestors.
